The Problem

Organisations speak about diversity and inclusion, but employees often aren’t clear on what those terms mean in day-to-day practice. There was a need for a learning experience that was welcoming, non-judgemental, and focused on action, not just definitions.

The Goal

Create a short, accessible e-learning course that introduces the basics of equity, diversity and inclusion. The aim was to build awareness, prompt reflection, and help people see where they could make a difference — no matter their role or background.

What I Created

  • A self-paced module using clear and inclusive design

  • Simple definitions of key terms like equity, diversity, inclusion, bias and allyship

  • Real-world examples to show these ideas in action

  • Interactive elements like flip cards, tabs, matching activity and more

  • A clean layout with soft, inclusive visuals and plain language

How I designed it

  • Started with a people-first lens

  • Used relatable scenarios and practical examples

  • Balanced learning with reflection — “What does this mean to you?” moments

  • Included opportunities to pause, reflect, and share — encouraging action, not guilt

  • Provided practical steps post module that can be reflected in the workplace

Tools: Articulate Rise 360, Articulate Review 360, Canva, Google Suites, Unsplash, MindMeister

Audience: All employees; useful for EDI champions and people managers

Responsibilities: Instructional design, E-Learning development

Skills demonstrated:

  • Inclusive learning design

  • Use of inclusive imagery

  • Content sensitivity and tone

  • Interactive blocks (e.g., flip cards, matching activity)

  • Designed for self-paced learning with opportunities for exploration and pausing
